ABOUT HANNAH LALONDE
Pursuing a B.A. in international development with minors in political science and communication at McGill University in Montréal, Canada, I am charting a path toward a career in law that blends creative innovation with critical inquiry. My expertise focuses on digital strategy with a political center: I aim to harness my extensive experience in communication, graphic design, and social media marketing as a method of public education and political messaging.
I currently serve as an editor for The McGill International Review where I collaborate with writers to develop analytical content examining global governance, human rights, and current events. As the Director of Communications for the International Relations Association of McGill, I oversee strategic initiatives to amplify IR research, events, and networking opportunities with the intent to foster accessible dialogue about the world on campus. In my internship for the mayor of San Jose, California, I developed extensive policy research skills while observing the life-changing importance of well informed governance and agents of change in shaping a community.
I am a multidisciplinary creative: a muralist who has painted 400 + sq. ft walls in bioscience incubators, a small business owner who sold custom hand-painted shoes on Etsy, and a freelance photographer with a natural eye for design. With roots in California’s vibrant Bay Area, my upbringing was defined by a rich blend of experiences — igniting an early passion for exploration and expression in all forms. From painting public spaces to skiing the slopes of Tahoe and catching a sunset on the beach in the same day, to exploring the diverse cuisines, art, and music of San Francisco, I have always been attuned to how creativity and our environment shape our world.
Captivated by questions of justice and ethics since childhood, I am always seeking to understand and challenge the frameworks that shape our everyday lives. I love to learn, and believe my inherent curiosity pushes me to think deeply about how systems operate and where they can be improved to better serve us all.
Analytical by nature and creative by trade, I approach problems from a myriad of angles, striving to craft solutions as innovative and equitable as they are effective. I am seeking opportunities that will challenge my perspective, expand my understanding of the world, and allow me to apply my unique blend of analysis and creativity to the pursuit of meaningful change.
